"Fridge" is an act of appropiation. López works as a reconstructor through perceptual resources related to painting that he leads to the installation and sculpture. Multilayered vinyl and insulating tape creates a faux real appearance reenacting the object/image in the most unexpected places. But there is always a connection between the rebuilded thing ( previously dismembered in compound to find the depicting parts to make it possible) and the used space. Industrial society, necessarily fitted with engineering and consume premises, were shown in most of his previous works. His pieces play with the geometry and the lineal drawing, the optical illusion, reliability and suprise, perception and detriment. To sum up, they play a game with our brain.

Juan López (Alto Maliño, Cantabria, 1979) Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts at Castilla La Mancha University. Even before starting his studies, he won several prizes in different disciplines as sculpture, painting or video creation. In 2004 was granted by the Botín Foundation and three years later he was selected for Generación 2007, at the same time he was honoured with the Altadis prize in Fine Arts. His body of work has been shown in experimental spaces, art fairs and museum such as Arco, Hangar, Musac, La Casa Encendida, Centro de Arte Santa Mónica, Joan Miró Foundation o Bellevue Linz (Austria). He lives and works in Cantabria and Madrid. He is represented by La Fábrica (Madrid) and Nogueras Blanchard (Barcelona)
