"Mamá" works as a topographical sense addition, where domestic and public, fake and real, liberty and authority, near and far, multiple and unique, rational and emotional crisscross without any breaking up possibility. Firmo works with his usual tools: graph paper, traced appearances as a formal statement, removed parts and juxtaposed landscapes and moldings (he usually creates drawed frames in his works or even look for unique real ones, becaming part of the piece) to recreate a domestic space with autobiographical and emotional links into a public space that he normally uses in a playful way, becoming a freedom, remoteness or lack place: a bridge towards his other self shaped by the family, the DNA, etcetera. Far away from home.

Theo Firmo (São Paulo, Brazil, 1983) graduates in Comunication Sciences at Universidad San Judas Tadeo, São Paulo. After a Semiotics of the Culture, applied to video and musical creation, Master´s Degree he moved to Madrid, where he lives and works nowadays. Draftsman but also video artist, his works has been shown in festivals like BAC (Barcelona) or NETMAGE (Audiovisual Festival in Bolonia). Collective and solo exhibitions in different institutions such as Plymouth University (UK) or Casarao Paulista (Brazil). At the moment he is represented by La Fresh Gallery and El Columpio, both in Madrid.
